Graymont employs a highly skilled Quality Assurance staff, which coupled with state-of-the-art equipment for quality control make the company an industry leader. Its chemists, geologists, engineers and technicians using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma), X-ray fluorescence spectrometers, and other industry-specific equipment ensures the manufacture of markedly superior products. Additionally, to ensure our customers that their quality needs are satisfied, we have formal quality management programs at all of our plants incorporating the latest in process-control methods, such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC).
Graymont maintains quality assurance laboratories at all major manufacturing facilities. A central laboratory located in Salt Lake City, Utah supports and confirms the quality control work of the plants, plus has the capability to conduct research and performance testing for many end use applications for our products.
Graymont's Materials Division is also highly committed to quality. All plant locations have working laboratories staffed with technicians who are constantly testing materials to ensure their compliance with required specifications. Among the testing agencies that certify our technicians are ACI, Portland Cement Association, AASHTO and the State University of Alfred, Buffalo, New York.
We design and test our own concrete mix designs, design our own asphalt mixes and are in constant communication with specifying agencies with an eye towards being in the forefront of new material development.
In addition, we have a Geologic Services group who assure the quality and quantity of reserves. This in-house expertise works with computer-based three-dimensional modeling to develop mine planning data for use at our quarries.
